Miracle Skin Transformer Body SPF 20 in Glow June 3, 2012

Today I bring you the Miracle Skin Transformer Body SPF 20 in Glow from my May Birchbox.

I received this in GLOW. My skin town is just a hint darker than Liv Tyler – so this was pretty dark on me. I figured that I could try to run with it and go for a tanned look. Not so much; It did not even out my skin at all. Some places were dark, other light, and my arms just looked streaky. On top of that it felt oily all day.  I do not think this product was right for me, though for people whose skin is a lot closer to the shade of the product this may work great.

Would I buy this product again? No, it just didn’t work for me.

Will I finish the sample – nope, into the trash it goes.

Here’s the breakdown:

Sample Size  0.5 oz
Full Size  3.38 oz
Full Size Price $34.00
Sample Value $5.02

Kellett Skincare Moisturizing Gel – Review May 24, 2012

Today I bring you the Kellett skincare moisturizing gel that I received in meaning May  Beauty Army kit.  As I mentioned before I was not too excited about the products that were included in my kit, in particular this one.

I was, however, pleasantly surprised at how great this product is.  Though the container looks incredibly small the  0.1 fl oz sample actually goes quite a long way.  I put this in one of my cosmetics jars that  I’ve shown before, and it lasted over a week.  This particular gel is nearly clear but has a slight milkiness.   Initially, it feels like it sits on top of the skin, but before you realize it, the gel has absorbed fully.  I’m not sure what makes this gel different but I actually feel as if it helped reduce the amount of breakouts on my face.

Overall, I am quite pleased with this particular product.  I am not sure if I will buy it again, but there really isn’t anything about this project that I don’t like.  I just have so many moisturizers right now that I’m not sure if they need to add this one.  If I haven’t found a moisturizer I like more, by the time that I finish my current full-size moisturizer, this will definitely be on my list to pick up.

Would I buy this product again?  Potentially, I really did like it and it really did leave my skin feeling nice and soft and smooth.

Will I finished the sample?  I already did, it lasted just over a week and they really enjoyed it.

Here’s the breakdown:

Sample Size: 0.1 oz
Full Size: 1.7 oz
Full Size Price:  $95
Sample Value: $5.58

Pūr-lisse – pūr-bright May 11, 2012

Today I bring you Pūr-lisse’s pūr-bright from my April Look Bag. This cream is a medium thickness and it goes on smooth. It is intended to provide moisture and cause dull skin to look revitalized.

Luckily my skin is not dull at all, but it can always use more moisture.  It feels good and didn’t clog my pores. I feel like it blended into my skin pretty well.  I didn’t notice any overall skin improvement, but again, my skin doesn’t really suffer from the ailments that this cream is supposed to aid.

Will I buy this again? Maybe if I start feeling like my skin is looking dull – but hopefully that never happens.

Will I finish the sample? Probably not, I have loads of moisturizers that work as well and have other benefits. I may hand it over to my mom though.

Here’s the breakdown:

Sample Size: 0.34 oz
Full Size: 1 oz
Full Size Price:  $76.00
Sample Value: $25.84

Beauty Army’s first ever exclusive product was launched this month and was available in the April kits. I happened to choose it, and realized it was totally new when I tried to find pricing to give you in my initial impressions post. I’ve since gotten the information and it is now also available on the Beauty Army site to purchase the full size product.  What product is this, you ask? (more…)

Juice Beauty Oil-free Moisturizer – Review April 26, 2012

Today I bring you Juice Beauty Oil-free Moisturizer that I received in my April Birchbox. This is a medium thickness cream that is advertised as a non-poor clogging formula that is good for oily acne prone skin. It also has products in it that are supposed to reduce redness and irritation.

I was not expecting to like this cream at all. I didn’t really like the last Juice Beauty product I tried, but this was surprisingly great. My skin is feeling softer than before. I’ve always had a touch of redness in my cheeks, nose, and forehead, but that has faded, not unhealthy looking, but is more soft than before.  I don’t find that it helps with my zits and still need to use spot treatments.

Will I buy this again? Probably – it was really good and I have some Birchbox points to spend.

Will I finish the sample? Definitiely!

Here’s the breakdown:

Sample Size 0.17 oz
Full Size  2.0 oz
Full Size Price $28.00
Sample Value $2.38

Indie Lee Squalane Facial Oil – Review April 14, 2012

Today I bring you Squalane Facial oil. at first blush you might think it is the same as “the moisturizing oil in vanilla citrus” except for the smell, but rest assured, its not.   This light oil is intended to help promote skin elasticity rather than moisturize. It smells fresh.  The oil is nearly instantly absorbed into the skin.

This was the second ever facial oil I’ve ever used.  I have to say that it really didn’t do anything for me. That might be because I am still relatively young. I’m only 30 afterall – how much elasticity could I have lost (especially compared to someone who is my mom’s age)? I just didn’t see or feel any difference to my skin other than it feeling a bit oily for a few minutes after using it. I used it for two weeks straight and nothing…but I’m not saying its a bad product, just its a product I didn’t see do anything.

Will I buy it again? Probably not – I really didn’t see any difference

Will I finish the sample? Meh, I don’t think so – not worth keeping it around.

Here’s the breakdown:

Sample Size: 0.25 oz
Full Size: 1 oz
Full Size Price:  $21.60
Sample Value: $5.40

Pur-lisse pur-Protect SPF Essential Daily Moisturizer – Review April 6, 2012

Today I bring you Pur-lisse pur-Protect SPF Essential Daily Moisturizer. This was one of the items in the March MyGlam bag. I had heard great things about the Pur-lisse brand so I was very much anticipating trying this. Because this was in a sample foil, I transferred it into a tiny craft jar in order to extend the use of it. As I was doing this the overwhelming smell of coppertone sunscreen hit me. Nevertheless I still wanted to try it.

This is a thick white cream. It didn’t feel like it fully absorbed, instead I felt like it left behind a film. After a few hours my skin actually started feeling dry.  I use a BB cream nearly every day as my daytime moisturizer and my foundation. I have never actually had my face start to feel dry using it. I figured something must be off so I tried again a few days later after following my normal routine for a few days. Again I used just the Pur-lisse. It really didn’t do what I was hoping for. My skin felt ok for the first 5-6 hours, but after that it again felt dry.

On top of it not feeling very moisturizing was the strong sunscreen smell. There is, to me, a reason that there are facial SPF products and others intended for your body. Having that strong of a scent all over your face (near your nose) is just not plesant. The smell stuck around for the first hour or so. I don’t know if it faded away or if I just got used to it, either way not my thing.

Overall this product just didn’t do it for me. I might have had too high expectations, but then again I really want any product I buy to perform great. I’m glad I tried this as a sample as opposed to having purchased it.

Will I buy it again? No, I have a suncscreen I like, I have a moisturizer I like, and I have a BB cream that does both.

Will I finish the sample? I don’t think so

Here’s the breakdown:

Sample Size 0.14 oz
Full Size 11.7 oz
Full Size Price $55.00
Sample Value $0.66

One- Olive Oil Nourishing enrichment all in one skincare – Review April 5, 2012

Today I bring you One- Olive Oil Nourishing enrichment all in one skincare. I received this in the March Look Bag. This is a formula that is intended to be multi purpose product which can be used in the bat, rubbed into the skin, used in the hair and more. I am always wary of multi purpose products – they tend to do everything OK, but nothing incredibly well. I was not anxious to try this product.

I first tried it as a face cleanser (one of the listed uses on the ONE website). My face felt more icky than when I started. I know some people swear by using olive oil as a cleanser – but not for me. Another day I tried using it to reduce frizzies and add shine to my hair. It did this OK but not as well as some of the john freida products like frizz ease.  I finally tried it as a body moisturizer. Yes, it did moisturize, but I felt oily and greasy the rest of the day – I hate oily residue on my skin.

Overall, while this is probably a nice product it seems to me I could just go buy some extra virgin olive oil and it would work just as well. This product is not for me and I plan to discontinue trying it now that I’ve given it a fair shot.

Will I buy this product again? No
Will I finish the sample? No

Here’s the breakdown:
Sample Size 0.25 oz
Full Size 6 oz
Full Size Price $ 23.99
Sample Value $1.00

Weleda Iris Hydrating Day Cream – Review April 3, 2012

Tags: , ,

A few weeks ago I brought you the Weleda Iris hydrating facial lotion that I received from Beauty Army. During March I received another product from Weleda, the Iris Hydrating Day Cream. The first one was pretty good so I expected similar results from this one.

I am not much of a day cream person because my BB cream is moisturizing and has an SPF so I never really felt a need to use an additional product. But I figured I have it so I’ll give it a go.

This cream has a thick consistency and an off white, almost yellow color.  The cream spreads thin and is absorbed quickly. It feels light weight.

Like the hydrating facial lotion it worked well in my normal and oily areas, but where my skin was dry it just didn’t moisturize enough.

Will I get it again? No, like I said my BB cream does everything this does and more.

Will I finish the sample? Sure, it was good, just not good enough to buy again.

Here’s the breakdown:

Sample Size: 0.17 oz
Full Size: 1 oz
Full Size Price:  $20.00
Sample Value: $3.40

The Sun FX Body Shimmer – Review April 2, 2012

Tags: , , ,

Just in time for spring is the Sun FX Body Shimmer which I received from Beauty Army in my March Kit. I was pretty excited about this – what goes better with a cute skirt than pretty shiny legs. I didn’t really know what to expect but I figured it couldn’t be too bad.

This product is intended to be hydrating and illuminating. The cream is a medium thickness that looks sort of like a pearl finish.  It is mildly moisturizing but not intensively, I personally wish it had been more moisturizing.  It smells like almonds, and it is very pleasant.

How about the shimmer? Well, when it is first rubbed on (and a little goes a LONG way) it is intensely shimmery.  After about 20 minutes the shimmer disappears and goes away completely. I would have preferred that it stay longer – what’s the point of applying shimmer if it just goes away?

Would I buy it again? No, it wasn’t so amazing for me to spend more money on

Will I finish the sample? Yes, might as well.

Here is a photo of my skin with the cream and without the cream so you can see the shimmer difference.

Here’s the breakdown:

Sample Size: 2.2 oz
Full Size: 6.7 oz
Full Size Price: $24.95
Sample Value: $8.19
