Today I bring you the blinc tubing mascara that I received in my May Total Beauty Box. This mascara is a polymer that coats your lashes all the way around  with a tube and is supposed to stay on all day even if you go swimming, cry, or workout.

This sounds like a revolutionary product….does it hold up?

Kryolan High Gloss Brilliant Lip Shine in Toffee July 3, 2012

This month has been absolutely insane.  I managed to find a new rental, pack all my belongings, remove all of that stuff from the old house, and get everything at least placed somewhere in the new house all in less than a month.  As a result, as I mentioned would happen, I did not have time to write to you all! I did, however, keep getting samples sent to me, so I have plenty to review.  Here is what you will be seeing in the next few days: A hybrid between my normal individual reviews, my first impressions and my box wrap up posts, all in one post per sample subscription.  I will wrap up the rest of May and use the aforementioned model for all of my June products  which should be reviewed in time to start my July products as I normally do – HOWEVER, if you like this new method let me know and I can switch to less frequent but bigger posts. Up to you, my friends. Thanks, as always, for reading!

Today I bring you the Kryolan High Gloss Brilliant Lip Shine in Toffee that I received in my May Glossy Box. This is, I suppose, the perfect example of a glossy nude lip however for me it was too glossy and NOT a good color.

The formula itself is ok – it is super high gloss and only minimally sticky. It stayed for a good couple hours before wearing all the way off.  If you apply a thin coat it highlights every crease and crevice in your lips, but if you apply it heavily then you don’t see those lines.

I’d give this a try in a different color before I say nay to it for certain, but as it is, I just couldn’t get there and like it. This is, I believe, the first lipgloss to go in the “throw” bin.

Would I buy the product again? Unlikely, unless there is a great sale to buy it cheap in a more complimentary color.

Will I finish the sample? No, this color made me look ill *sad*

 Here’s the breakdown:
Sample Size: 0.135 oz
Full Size: 0.135 oz
Full Size Price: $18.10
Sample Value: $18.10

Tarte LipSurgence matte lip tint review March 30, 2012

Today I bring you Tarte LipSurgence matte lip tint in “lucky”.  This is a bubblegum pink color.  I was super impressed that this was a full sized item in my birchbox.  I was also impressed to find a taste item in my box. I really do like my tarte cosmetics.  I’m not much on matte lipsticks but I figured I’d give it a try.

So how does it perform? The matte highlights every single imperfection of my lips, but it is not as bad as some of them.  The color lasts for a good 3-4 hours if I don’t eat anything or drink anything.

For what it is, I think its pretty good – but it is not the product for me. I will use it but not super frequently and when I do it will get some sort of gloss over it.

Before                                                                                          After

Sample Size 0.08 oz
Full Size 0.08 oz
Full Size Price $24.00
Sample Value $24.00

Will I buy it again? Probably not, I’m not huge on matte stuff

Will I finish the sample? I’ll use it as long as it makes sense.

Cover FX Eye Prep Eye Primer from Beauty Army March 18, 2012

One of the samples I received in my March Beauty Army Kit was this Cover FX Eye Prep eye primer. I was pretty excited about this because I have learned over the last year how incredibly important primer is for someone like me with hooded lids and oily lids. Primer makes it so that I can wear shadow all day long without it creasing or moving. LOVE PRIMER.

As a result I was pretty excited about trying this – according to Beauty Army Eye Prep is “Eye primer for concealer, foundation and eye shadow application. Instantly smooths fine lines and creases to enhance color blending.” Woah it is a primer AND it helps with fine lines and wrinkles? Ok I’m in.

This is a fairly thin cream that applies transparently. It feels okay as an eye cream, nothing amazing but certainly not bad. I am used to my primers having a tint to them, but hey, what does it matter when your are putting eyeshadow over it anyway.  I decided to give it a try and compare it one on one to my favorite primer, Urban Decay Original Primer Potion.

So, how did it compare? Click below the break to find out

Eye Rock Designer Liner Review March 1, 2012

In my February Birchbox I received the Eye Rock Liner stickers. I was pretty psyched – I’d been drooling over the Dior version for awhile now. The packet comes with 4 different designs, and if you order from Birchbox you get 2 packets.  I did not try these the first few days after getting my box because I had work – and big bold winged liner is just not appropriate where I work.

If you look on the container it looks really natural, like someone just did an amazing job with liquid liner. I was really hoping for a similar result for myself.

Well, this was my trial run so I picked the design I liked the least- the one with the squared off end (though I did like them all).

So how did it go?

Not so well as I had hoped. First I had trouble with getting the sticker on straight. The next problem was that due to the shape of my lids the sticker puckered and looked really cheap.

From a little distance away the buckling was not as visible but as you can see in the closeup, it was not great. Then on top of it it was uncomfortable. Have you ever worn false eyelashes?  Have you ever totally screwed up and put on wayyyyy too much glue? That is what it felt like. Then I went to remove the sticker – OUCH Yikes.  You know how you are supposed to treat your eye area carefully so that you don’t create wrinkles? Yeh these stickers did NOT feel gentle to that area. Cute? Yes.  Gentile? NO

I think if I try another I will take a long hot shower before removing them so that maybe they would come off easier.

Would I buy them again? I don’t think so

Will I finish the sample? Maybe – Not sure yet.

A little over a week ago I received my birchbox. I wasn’t incredibly excited about it, which is why I went through the Beauty Army and MyGlam items first. But I’m not going to let you down and skip reviewing the stuff that I got.

This month people got some pretty sweet swag. Possible inclusions that I would have loved in this month’s box were:

Beauty Blender

Exude Lipstick

Eye Rock Designer Liner

ColoreScience Bronzer

Violent Lip Tattoo

Zoya Feel nailpolish

So what did I get?

MyFace Cosmetics Blingtone Eyeshadow in “Bellbottom Blues” Review February 23, 2012

This is the conclusion of my second 6 part series of my new Beauty Army Kit* where I review each of my new samples and their relative value.

Today I’m going to share my opinion of the MyFace Cosmetics Blingtone Eyeshadow in Bellbottom Blues. I picked this as one of my 6 samples (out of my nine options) from the new Beauty Sample Kit, Beauty Army. Since I had gotten one in the last kit SP”ICE”Y I basically knew what I was in for but I was still excited – even though this was a color I didn’t expect to be able to use very much.

Lets start with the packaging. it was a clear plastic case. The packaging is not all that amazing, but it is good enough for its purpose. Now lets compare similar priced product’s packaging, Urban decay has the cute Subway Token, Too Faced has the cute flowers, The Balm has cute tins, and Lancome has the slider tops, this product’s packaging is ok, but not up to those standards.

What about the important part, the product?

ELF from Hautelook – it was worth a try February 22, 2012

So, I’ve been reading tons of stuff lately on how ELF has really gotten their act together. I needed a new multi-purpose kit to just leave in the drawer at work, and Hautelook had ELF on sale. I picked up the e.l.f. Studio 83 Piece Essential Makeup Collectionand the e.l.f. 24K 6-Piece Shimmer Eyeliner Collection

I first tried ELF about 6 years ago 2005 shortly after their website allowed people to order from it. I was not yet very into makeup but $1.00/product? That sounded great, well too good to be true – and it was. I was thouroughly disappointed with every single product. Again this was all before I even learned what quality makeup was – this was just in comparison to drugstore stuff.  Well here it is 6+ years later and with everything I’ve seen lately I thought it was time to give them a second shot.

Here is what I got!

What did I think? Read on!

MyGlam February (Bag #3) Impressions and value February 15, 2012

I just got my third MyGlam bag; the February bag dubbed the love bag or Valentines day bag by many in the community showed up on February 15th – which was awesome since they just started shipping on the 9th. This month was a cute little pink bag with hearts scattered across the fabric. It doesn’t feel waterproof/leakproof inside like last month’s did – but it is adorable – even though it is pink.  Ok – so what was in it?

  • X Out Shine Control (by Proactive)
  • NYX Roll on Shimmer in Onyx
  • Premier Dead Sea Cinderella Mask/Instant Streatching and Revitalizing Mask
  • Premier Dead Sea Concentrated Facial Serum with Vitamins E and C
  • Freeman Facial Mask Sachet in Goji Berry
  • 2 Ghirardelli chocolates
  • $100 certificate off a NuMe product

Lots of people are fairly upset with this bag – but I am subscribed to a sample program – that means I am sampling things that I probably wouldn’t buy on my own to see if I am interested in getting some for myself. I’m good with what I got.  Lets look deeper at the contents.

Read more below about the value and see photos of the un-bagging.
