Ug, Box 7, I was really hoping to not get washing machine detergent. I use Tide from Costco – it is economical and does a good job of cleaning – I have no interest in trying anything new for clothes washing. Anyway I guess I just spoiled one of the items for you. Sorry. This month’s box is intended to be “down to earth” themed. So what all came in the box you ask?April BirchBox – Initial Impressions April 14, 2012

Today I bring you Pūr-lisse Pūr-lips comfort lip balm from my April Beauty Army kit. This one was actually kind of funny as it is a full size+ sample – in that what they sell at Beauty Army is 0.38 oz and I received a 0.5 oz sample. SCORE!!!
This balm has the consistency of petroleum jelly. It contains vitamin E and white tea to nourish, hydrate, and soften. It DOES NOT contain petroleum.
How does it work? I’d say it works similar to using a normal Vaseline product. It feels food for the time it is fully on the lip but the moment it begins to rub off all soothing effects go away.
I’m going to be leaving it at work to use in the cases where I leave lip product at home accidentally. It is good enough to keep around, but not good enough to replace any current products.
Would I buy it again? No, it is quite expensive and does no better than my $3.00 Burt’s Bees.
Will I finish the sample? Yes, it is good enough to keep using, it is no worse than my Burt’s Bees either, just $16 vs $3…. I can do math.
Here’s the breakdown:
Sample Size: 0.5 oz
Full Size: 0.38 oz (Some sites sell the 0.5 oz)
Full Size Price: $16.00 ($22.00 on the sites that sell the larger size)
Sample Value: $22.00

Indie Lee Squalane Facial Oil – Review

Today I bring you Squalane Facial oil. at first blush you might think it is the same as ”the moisturizing oil in vanilla citrus” except for the smell, but rest assured, its not. This light oil is intended to help promote skin elasticity rather than moisturize. It smells fresh. The oil is nearly instantly absorbed into the skin.
This was the second ever facial oil I’ve ever used. I have to say that it really didn’t do anything for me. That might be because I am still relatively young. I’m only 30 afterall – how much elasticity could I have lost (especially compared to someone who is my mom’s age)? I just didn’t see or feel any difference to my skin other than it feeling a bit oily for a few minutes after using it. I used it for two weeks straight and nothing…but I’m not saying its a bad product, just its a product I didn’t see do anything.
Will I buy it again? Probably not – I really didn’t see any difference
Will I finish the sample? Meh, I don’t think so – not worth keeping it around.
Here’s the breakdown:
Sample Size: 0.25 oz
Full Size: 1 oz
Full Size Price: $21.60
Sample Value: $5.40
