Pixi Wakeup Kit Review and Swatches July 30, 2011

I was ordering a double barrel curling iron from Target and was about $30 away from free shipping and shipping was going to cost $20 so I figured I’d just buy something else for myself.  I had been wanting to try Pixi, the “upscale” brand at Target and they had a Weekday Wakeup Kit that I’d wanted. Well at Target they showed the photo of the “Weekday Wakeup Kit” and so I ordered it.  Evidently I should have read better because the description did not match the photo, and instead I got the “Wakeup Kit” which is quite different – thanks a-lot Target.

Anyway, this Wakeup Kit by Pixi contains 2 Eyeshadow Primers, 18 Eyeshadows, 4 colors of blush, and 8 lipglosses. All of the eyeshadows are shimmery and one of the blushes is shimmery.

Not your mom’s tuna surprise July 29, 2011

I want to talk to you today about Tuna. Specifically yellow-fin or Ahi tuna. It is tasty and really good for you. According to various sources tunacan help lower your blood pressure, reduce cholesterol, reduce your risk of coronary heart disease, and aid in Alzheimer’s disease prevention.

 

I typically eat tuna at my favorite sushi place and cook salmon at home, but I was getting tired of salmon so when I saw that the local grocery store had some yellow-fin tuna steaks I jumped. They were sushi grade so I knew what I’d have to make – Seared Tuna. My fiance has never had sushi, so I thought this might be a neat way to break him into the experience.

Emani Duo – Enzo review July 28, 2011

 Emani is a “green” cosmetics company that also claims to be Vegan friendly.  I don’t particularly worry about such things, but for those who do pay attention to that I know it is super important. They have a variety of products from Face to Tool products.

I’d personally never heard of Emani before this weekend.  I was at Ed Wyse trying to find some nail polish to try a french manacure myself.  Yes, I did find what I was looking for, and then I noticed the employee there had the most striking khaki green eyeshadow on. I asked her about it and she showed me the line. I had to have it. At Ed Wyse it was $16.00 but I’ve now found that House of Beauty World has it for $10.00 + shipping.  Anyway I picked it up and finally got to try it today.

Now, if you’ve read my previous posts you will know I love greens, and the Enzo duo is no different.  Lets start with the packaging. It is a sturdy plastic compact with a nice sized mirror inside. there are two different, complimentary, shades inside of 0.07 oz each (for a total of 0.14 oz) I picked Enzo.  It has a lovely design on the top. There is no application tool which I was grateful for since I usually throw them away.

Urban Decay Eyeshadow Ammo Palette review July 27, 2011

Even though it is Wednesday for everyone else it is my Monday.  I’m done with my trip to St. Louis. It was fun but too hot!!!! I don’t know how people can bear that heat. I live in Seattle, so 85 is sweltering – 105 feels like an inferno – a humid inferno. Luckily I had used my urban decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion so my makeup stayed nice all day long – at least on my eyes.

Today I’ll review the Urban Decay Eyeshadow Ammo Palette. I got this palette the first time I ever went to Sephora. I never really wore bright colors but this one was just so amazing I had to try the colors.

The palette is a nice black box with an amazing foil and velvet design on the front. Upon opening it you will find a generous sized mirror and 10 0.03 oz shadows (their full-sized shadows are 0.05 oz) It also comes with a sponge brush, which as usual instantly went into the garbage.

Today I have to travel from Seattle to St. Louis. I’ll be flying Alaska Air. So far I’ve breezed through I checked in last night online to secure my seat. My fiancé is sick so I took a towncar to the airport. Then, since I had checked in last night, I went straight to baggage check. Security was the longest line but I didn’t have to go through the body scan thing, so that was nice. Now I am sitting at Wolfgang puck express waiting for my breakfast sandwich and beer! How funny is it to have beer with breakfast?

Kat Von D Truth Palette Review July 16, 2011

Kat Von D, the famous Tattoo artist, has a contract with Sephora for her own line of makeup which is inspired by her own look.  Each of the different palettes show a beautiful piece of her own art on the front and 8 signature colors within.

Today I was feeling the need to wear something pretty fun so I grabbed my brand new Truth by Kat Von D palette. Check out those colors. It is an interesting palette with half the colors being pretty extreme and the other half very classical.

Lancôme Color Design 5 Shadow & Liner Palette Review July 15, 2011

Its Friday! That means I get to play with colors a bit more – YAY!

Ok enough excitement about the day of the week. I got my Sephora shipment in yesterday that I’d ordered a bit ago. I had realized I had mostly plums, neutrals, and blues. I love green and typically look good in it so I decided to try this Lancome Color Design 5 Shadow & Liner Palette in “Jade Fever”. Yes that means its green. I’ve been eagerly awaiting my $48.00 palette (wow I never imagined I’d spend that much – but I did). It did not fail to impress me.

Too Faced Romantic Eye Review July 14, 2011

As I introduced myself to you yesterday, I noted that I work in a fairly conservative workplace, so my looks need to keep my makeup in fairly muted tones. A second palette I keep at my desk is the too faced romantic eye. I bought this one specifically because the picture on the front is so pretty.

Tarte Neutral Eyes Volume II July 13, 2011

So, I work in a fairly professional environment, and much to my dismay I need to keep my makeup fairly toned down. My collegues are mostly men, and the women in the department are used to the male dominated workplace (or have given up caring) so they don’t tend to wear any makeup. If I were to wear bright colors I’d stick out like a sore thumb.

As a result, one of my standby for Monday through Thursday is my Tarte Neutral Eyes Volume II.

A lot of this will probably center around new makeup finds but I’ll also talk about more philosophical things sometimes.
